On November 24, it was announced that Member of Parliament Guy Lauzon will serve on the important Procedure and House Affairs committee this Parliament. This is in addition to the new responsibilities Mr. Lauzon has undertaken as Chair of the Conservative Caucus.

The Committee on Procedure and House Affairs is a standing committee composed of all four political parties and is responsible for the procedural and administrative matters relating to the Canadian House of Commons. It has 12 members, including the whip and/or deputy whip from each party.

The committee is responsible for a number of procedural, and administrative matters relating to the House of Commons. This includes matters such as Private Members’ Business, questions of parliamentary privilege and review of the Standing Orders.

“I’m honoured to serve on this important committee,” said Lauzon when questioned about the appointment. “This committee is responsible for much of the important behind-the-scenes work that ensures Parliament runs smoothly and efficiently when in session.”
