Prime Minister Harper Names Guy Lauzon as Chair of the Government Caucus

Guy Lauzon, the Member of Parliament for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry, will serve as the new Chair of the Conservative Government Caucus, Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced today. “Guy brings a wealth of experience to his new role as Government Caucus Chair,” said the Prime Minister. “He is a well respected figure among his caucus colleagues and I look forward to working with him and all government caucus members as we develop strong policies to protect Canada’s future during a time of global economic instability.” First elected in 2004, the fluently bilingual Mr. Lauzon has previously distinguished himself as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and for the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario. Guy has also established himself as an effective bridge builder through his service on the Multi-partisan Border Caucus the Assemblée Parlementaire de la Francophonie Prior to entering public life Mr. Lauzon benefited from a varied professional career including years of experience in the public service, community, agriculture and private industry. He has also been an active volunteer in his community including work with the Multiple Sclerosis Society and the United Way. “I am honoured that the Prime Minister has asked me to take on the responsibility of Government Caucus Chair,” said Mr. Lauzon. “I look forward to working closely with him, and all of my colleagues in ensuring that the issues facing every region of Canada are addressed at the caucus table.” |
