Thank you Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry
October 27, 2008

Having the opportunity to represent my community in Ottawa these past few years has been an honour and a privilege.

On October 14th, the residents of Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry (SDSG) cast their ballots and re-elected me as their representative. I am humbled by the trust you have placed in me and grateful for the opportunity to continue this job that I love. I would also like to congratulate my opponents for the respectable campaigns they ran. I’ve won and lost elections and can tell you from personal experience that it takes a lot of courage to put your name on that ballot

Through the course of this campaign, I had the chance to speak with literally thousands of people and the message I heard from supporters and non-supporters alike was fundamentally the same. The people of SDSG want a community that is growing in prosperity; a community that is peaceful, safe and clean; a community where you can build a strong future for your children and a community where your parents and grandparents can live their retirement years with dignity

With this election win, you have chosen the Conservative Party led by Stephen Harper as the government best able to represent your aspirations. I am proud to be part of Prime Minister Harper’s team and I intend to ensure SDSG has a strong voice in Ottawa as we pursue the issues that matter to you.

With all that said, no one wins an election on their own. I want to thank the volunteers involved in every campaign who gave unselfishly of their time and energy. I also want to thank everyone who got out and voted this election and also remind you all of the importance of voting. While the turnout in SDSG was higher than the national average, we can do better.

The results of this election fill me with great hope for the future of our country and community. It’s now time to get to work and start delivering for the people of Canada and Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry.

All the best,

Guy Lauzon, M.P.
